धाटी श्री-जयतीर्थ-वर्य-वचसां चेटी-भवत्-स्वर्धुनी
पाटीरानिल-फुल्ल-मल्लि-सुमनो-वाटी-लसद्-वासना ।
पेटी युक्ति-मणि-श्रियां सुमतिभिः कोटीरकैः श्लाघिता
सा टीका-निचयात्मिका मम चिराद् आटीकतां मानसे ॥ १ ॥

dhāṭī śrī-jayatīrtha-varya-vacasāṃ ceṭī-bhavat-svardhunī
pāṭīrānila-phulla-malli-sumano-vāṭī-lasad-vāsanā ।
peṭī yukti-maṇi-śriyāṃ sumatibhiḥ koṭīrakaiḥ ślāghitā
sā ṭīkā-nicayātmikā mama cirād āṭīkatāṃ mānase ॥

The eloquence of Śrī Jayatīrtha’s words, embodied in his commentaries, humbles even the sacred Ganga and exudes an enchanting fragrance akin to a garden of blooming jasmine flowers infused with the scent of sandalwood. His words are a precious trove of logical gems, captivating scholars who wear majestic crowns upon their heads. May the ceaseless flow of Śrī Jayatīrtha’s words permeate my mind, forever resonating within.


टीकाकृज् जयवर्य संसदि भवत्य् एकान्ततो राजति
प्राकाम्यं दधते पलायन-विधौ स्तोकान्य-शङ्का द्विषः ।
लोकान्धीकरण-क्षमस्य तमसः सा काल-सीमा यदा
पाकाराति-दिशि प्ररोहति न चेद् राका-निशा-कामुकः ॥ २ ॥

ṭīkākṛj jayavarya saṃsadi bhavaty ekāntato rājati
prākāmyaṃ dadhate palāyana-vidhau stokānya-śaṅkā dviṣaḥ |
lokāndhīkaraṇa-kṣamasya tamasaḥ sā kāla-sīmā yadā
pākārāti-diśi prarohati na ced rākā-niśā-kāmukaḥ ॥

Oh, Jayatīrtha, the commentator! In your esteemed presence, the most vehement dissenters, burdened with perplexity, yearn to find an exit. The veil of ignorance, capable of shrouding the entire world, finds its hours numbered, waiting for the moon to ascend the eastern horizon.


छाया-संश्रयणेन यच्-चरणयोर् आयामि-सांसारिका-
पायानल्पतमातप-व्यतिकर-व्यायाम-विक्षोभिताः ।
आयान्ति प्रकटां मुदं बुध-जना हेयानि धिक्-कृत्य नः
पायाच् छ्री-जयराट् दृशा स-रस-निर्मायानुकम्पार्द्रया ॥ ३ ॥

chāyā-saṃśrayaṇena yac-caraṇayor āyāmi-sāṃsārikā-
pāyānalpatamātapa-vyatikara-vyāyāma-vikṣobhitāḥ |
āyānti prakaṭāṃ mudaṃ budha-janā heyāni dhik-kṛtya naḥ
pāyāc chrī-jayarāṭ dṛśā sa-rasa-nirmāyānukampārdrayā ॥

In the face of worldly trials, akin to the sweltering waves of summer’s heat, wise souls seek refuge beneath the shade of your feet. O revered Jayatīrtha! In your presence, they find solace, discarding all that is unwelcome. May your compassionate gaze, untainted by deceit and brimming with love, protect me.


श्री-वाय्वंश-सुवंश-मौक्तिक-मणेः सेवा-विनम्र-क्षमा-
देवाज्ञान-तमो-विमोचन-कला-जैवातृक-श्री-निधेः ।
शैवाद्वैत-मताटवी-कवलना-दावाग्नि-लीला-जुषः
को वादी पुरतो जयीश्वर भवेत् ते वादि-कोलाहले ॥ ४ ॥

śrī-vāyvaṃśa-suvaṃśa-mauktika-maṇeḥ sevā-vinamra-kṣamā-
devājñāna-tamo-vimocana-kalā-jaivātṛka-śrī-nidheḥ |
śaivādvaita-matāṭavī-kavalanā-dāvāgni-līlā-juṣaḥ
ko vādī purato jayīśvara bhavet te vādi-kolāhale ॥

O Victorious Lord! You are a radiant gem in the lineage of Madhva, the embodiment of Vayu. Your brilliance is akin to the moon, dispelling the darkness of ignorance among scholars who humbly serve you. Your endeavors are like a raging forest fire, consuming the realms of Shaiva and Advaita with each decisive stride. When you engage in debates, who can dare to stand before you?


नीहारच्छवि-बिम्ब-निर्गत-कर-व्यूहाप्लुतेन्दूपला-
नाहार्य-स्रुत-नूतनामृत-परीवाहालि-वाणी-मुचः ।
ऊहागोचर-गर्व-पण्डित-पयोवाहानिल-श्री-जुषो
माहात्म्यं जयतीर्थ-वर्य भवतो व्याहारम् अत्येति नः ॥ ५ ॥

nīhāracchavi-bimba-nirgata-kara-vyūhāplutendūpalā-
nāhārya-sruta-nūtanāmṛta-parīvāhāli-vāṇī-mucaḥ |
ūhāgocara-garva-paṇḍita-payovāhānila-śrī-juṣo
māhātmyaṃ jayatīrtha-varya bhavato vyāhāram atyeti naḥ ॥

O revered Jayatīrtha! Your magnificence transcends our ability to express in mere words. Like a tempest, you destroy the lofty clouds of scholars adorned with boundless pride and arrogance. Your words cascade effortlessly, akin to a serene stream flowing naturally from the Chandrakanta jewel, illuminated by the radiant moonbeams, gleaming like glistening snow.

वन्दारु-क्षितिपाल-मौलि-विलसन्-मन्दार-पुष्पावली-
मन्दान्य-प्रसरन्-मरन्द-कणिका-वृन्दार्द्र-पादाम्बुजः ।
कुन्दाभामल-कीर्तिर् आर्त-जनता-वृन्दारकानोकहः
स्वं दासं जयतीर्थ-राट् स्व-करुणा-सन्धानितं मां क्रियात् ॥ ६ ॥

vandāru-kṣitipāla-mauli-vilasan-mandāra-puṣpāvalī-
mandānya-prasaran-maranda-kaṇikā-vṛndārdra-pādāmbujaḥ |
kundābhāmala-kīrtir ārta-janatā-vṛndārakānokahaḥ
svaṃ dāsaṃ jayatīrtha-rāṭ sva-karuṇā-sandhānitaṃ māṃ kriyāt ॥

May the King Jayatīrtha embrace me, his servant, with his kindness. His feet are bathed in the abundant nectar-like droplets from the blooming Mandara flowers, adorning the heads of humble kings who bow before him. His fame is as pure as the fragrance of jasmine. He is like Kalpavṛkṣa, a wish-fulfilling divine tree, for those in times of distress.


श्री-दाराङ्घ्रि-नतः प्रतीप-सुमनो-वादाहवाटोप-नि-
र्भेदातन्द्र-मतिः समस्त-विबुधामोदावली-दायकः ।
गोदावर्य्-उदयत्-तरङ्ग-निकर-ह्री-दायि-गम्भीर-गीः
पादाब्ज-प्रणते जयी कलयतु स्वे दासवर्गे ऽपि माम् ॥ ७ ॥

śrī-dārāṅghri-nataḥ pratīpa-sumano-vādāhavāṭopa-ni-
rbhedātandra-matiḥ samasta-vibudhāmodāvalī-dāyakaḥ |
godāvary-udayat-taraṅga-nikara-hrī-dāyi-gambhīra-gīḥ
pādābja-praṇate jayī kalayatu sve dāsavarge ‘pi mām ॥

May Śrī Jayatīrtha, humble at the feet of Lord Nārāyaṇa, whose tireless intellect dismantles the fervor of opposing scholars and brings eternal bliss to the wise, whose profound words outshine the mighty tides of the Godavari river, count me in the ranks of his devoted servants, bowing down to his divine lotus feet.


विद्या-वारिज-षण्ड-चण्ड-किरणो विद्या-मद-क्षोदयद्-
वाद्याली-कदली-भिदामरकरी हृद्या ऽऽत्म-कीर्ति-क्रमः ।
पद्या बोध-ततेर् विनम्र-सुर-राड्-उद्यान-भूमी-रुहो
दद्याच्छ्रीजयतीर्थराट् धियमुतावद्यानि भिद्यान्मम ॥ ८ ॥

vidyā-vārija-ṣaṇḍa-caṇḍa-kiraṇo vidyā-mada-kṣodayad-
vādyālī-kadalī-bhidāmarakarī hṛdyā ”tma-kīrti-kramaḥ |
padyā bodha-tater vinamra-sura-rāḍ-udyāna-bhūmī-ruho
dadyācchrījayatīrtharāṭ dhiyamutāvadyāni bhidyānmama ॥

Śrī Jayatīrtha, like a radiant sun, nurtures the cluster of lotuses that represent knowledge. He stands tall like a mighty elephant, demolishing the arrogance of opponents with ease, just as a banana tree succumbs to its strength. His illustrious reputation captivates every mind and guides them on the path to true wisdom. To those who humbly seek his guidance, he offers solace and support like a divine tree. May the benevolent King Jayatīrtha bestow upon me the gift of right knowledge and dispel my fallacies.


आभासत्वम् इयाय तार्किक-मतं प्राभाकर-प्रक्रिया
शोभां नैव बभार दूर-निहिता वैभाषिकाद्य्-उक्तयः ।
ह्री-भारेण नताश् च सङ्कर-मुखाः क्षोभाकरो भास्करः
श्री-भाष्यं जययोगिनि प्रवदति स्वाभाविकोद्यन्-मतौ ॥ ९ ॥

ābhāsatvam iyāya tārkika-mataṃ prābhākara-prakriyā
śobhāṃ naiva babhāra dūra-nihitā vaibhāṣikādy-uktayaḥ |
hrī-bhāreṇa natāś ca saṅkara-mukhāḥ kṣobhākaro bhāskaraḥ
śrī-bhāṣyaṃ jayayogini pravadati svābhāvikodyan-matau ॥

As the naturally gifted Śrī Jayatīrtha expounded upon the profound Bhashya of Sri Madhvacharya, the school of Nyāya became a laughingstock, the doctrines of Prābhākaras lost their luster, the words of Buddhists were relegated to a distant memory, other Vedāntins hung their heads in shame, and even Bhaskara grew anxious.


बन्धानः स-रसार्थ-शब्द-विलसद्-बन्धाकराणां गिराम्
इन्धानो ऽर्क-विभा-परीभव-झरी-सन्धायिना तेजसा ।
रुन्धानो यशसा दिशः कवि-शिरः-सन्धार्यमाणेन मे
सन्धानं स जयी प्रसिद्ध-हरि-सम्बम्धागमस्य क्रियात् ॥ १० ॥

bandhānaḥ sa-rasārtha-śabda-vilasad-bandhākarāṇāṃ girām
indhāno ‘rka-vibhā-parībhava-jharī-sandhāyinā tejasā |
rundhāno yaśasā diśaḥ kavi-śiraḥ-sandhāryamāṇena me
sandhānaṃ sa jayī prasiddha-hari-sambamdhāgamasya kriyāt ॥

May Śrī Jayatīrtha, the skilled artisan of words adorned with poignant emotions, profound meanings, intricate expressions, and captivating correlations, whose radiance surpasses the brilliance of the sun, whose fame resonates with reverence among poets in all corners, bless me with a deep connection to the sacred texts devoted to the illustrious Lord Viṣṇu.


सङ्ख्यावद्-गण-गीयमान-चरितः साङ्ख्याक्षपादादि-निः-
सङ्ख्यासत्-समयि-प्रभेद-पटिमा-प्रख्यात-विख्याति-गः ।
मुख्यावास-गृहं क्षमा-दम-दया-मुख्यामल-श्री-धुरां
व्याख्याने कलयेद् रतिं जय-वराभिख्या-धरो मद्-गुरुः ॥ ११ ॥

saṅkhyāvad-gaṇa-gīyamāna-caritaḥ sāṅkhyākṣapādādi-niḥ-
saṅkhyāsat-samayi-prabheda-paṭimā-prakhyāta-vikhyāti-gaḥ |
mukhyāvāsa-gṛhaṃ kṣamā-dama-dayā-mukhyāmala-śrī-dhurāṃ
vyākhyāne kalayed ratiṃ jaya-varābhikhyā-dharo mad-guruḥ ॥

May my revered teacher, whose illustrious name is Jaya, whose story is revered and celebrated by scholars, who is renowned among the learned for his profound understanding of various opposing schools of thought such as Sāṅkhya and Nyāya, who embodies virtues like forgiveness, self-control, compassion, and unwavering devotion, grant me the zeal and passion to expound upon the works of Madhvacharya.


आसीनो मरुदंश-दास-सुमनो-नासीर-देशे क्षणाद्
दासी-भूत-विपक्ष-वादि-विसरः शासी समस्तैनसाम् ।
वासी हृत्सु सतां कला-निवह-विन्यासी ममानारतं
श्री-सीता-रमणार्चकः स जयराड् आसीदतां मानसे ॥ १२ ॥

āsīno marudaṃśa-dāsa-sumano-nāsīra-deśe kṣaṇād
dāsī-bhūta-vipakṣa-vādi-visaraḥ śāsī samastainasām |
vāsī hṛtsu satāṃ kalā-nivaha-vinyāsī mamānārataṃ
śrī-sītā-ramaṇārcakaḥ sa jayarāḍ āsīdatāṃ mānase ॥

May Śrī Jayatīrtha, a repository of diverse talents, the devout worshipper of Lord Sītā Rāma, the foremost among scholars dedicated to the service of Madhva, who swiftly subjugates opposing debaters, who dispels all sins, and resides within the hearts of the righteous, eternally dwell in my mind.


पक्षीशासन-पाद-पूजन-रतः कक्षीकृतोद्यद्-दयो
लक्षीकृत्य सभा-तले रटद्-असत्-पक्षीश्वरान् अक्षिपत् ।
अक्षीण-प्रतिभा-भरो विधि-सरोजाक्षी-विहाराकरो
लक्ष्मीं नः कलयेज् जयी सुचिरम् अध्यक्षीकृताधोक्षजाम् ॥ १३ ॥

pakṣīśāsana-pāda-pūjana-rataḥ kakṣīkṛtodyad-dayo
lakṣīkṛtya sabhā-tale raṭad-asat-pakṣīśvarān akṣipat |
akṣīṇa-pratibhā-bharo vidhi-sarojākṣī-vihārākaro
lakṣmīṃ naḥ kalayej jayī suciram adhyakṣīkṛtādhokṣajām ॥

May Śrī Jayatīrtha, deeply devoted to the worship of Lord Garuḍavāhana, his heart filled with boundless compassion, who skillfuly discerns and dismisses erroneous philosophers, who possesses an unwavering and timeless talent, and serves as a sanctuary for Brahma and Sarasvati, bestow upon us enduring wealth, that springs from realizing the divine presence of the Lord.


[येनागाहि समस्त-शास्त्र-पृतना-रत्नाकरो लीलया
येनाखण्डि कुवादि-सर्व-सुभट-स्तोमो वचः-सायकैः ।
येनास्थापि च मध्व-शास्त्र-विजय-स्तम्भो धरा-मण्डले
तं सेवे जयतीर्थ-वीरम् अनिशं मध्वाख्य-राजादृतम् ॥ १४ ॥]

[yenāgāhi samasta-śāstra-pṛtanā-ratnākaro līlayā
yenākhaṇḍi kuvādi-sarva-subhaṭa-stomo vacaḥ-sāyakaiḥ |
yenāsthāpi ca madhva-śāstra-vijaya-stambho dharā-maṇḍale
taṃ seve jayatīrtha-vīram aniśaṃ madhvākhya-rājādṛtam ॥]

[I humbly offer my reverence to Śrī Jayatīrtha, the fearless explorer of the vast sea of philosophical texts. With his razor-sharp argumentative arrows, he effortlessly dismantled the army of deceitful debaters. He firmly established the triumphant pillar of the Madhva school, spreading its glory across the globe, and receiving the esteemed recognition of King Sri Madhva himself.]


[यदीय-वाक्-तरङ्गाणां विप्लुषो विदुषां गिरः ।
जयति श्रीधरावासो जयतीर्थ-सुधाकरः ॥ १५ ॥]

[yadīya-vāk-taraṅgāṇāṃ vipluṣo viduṣāṃ giraḥ |
jayati śrīdharāvāso jayatīrtha-sudhākaraḥ ॥]

[Jayatīrtha, an ocean of wisdom and the divine abode of Lord Narayana, is truly magnificent! Scholars’ lectures are mere drops in the tides of his mighty discourse.]


[सत्यप्रिय-यति-प्रोक्तं श्री-जयार्य-स्तवं शुभम् ।
पठन् सभासु विजयी लोकेषूत्तमतां व्रजेत् ॥ १६ ॥]

[satyapriya-yati-proktaṃ śrī-jayārya-stavaṃ śubham |
paṭhan sabhāsu vijayī lokeṣūttamatāṃ vrajet ॥]

[Whoever recites this noble stotra of Jayatīrtha, composed by the ascetic Satyapriya, shall triumph in all gatherings and attain esteemed positions in the world.]
